The Role of Coded Side Information in Single-Server Private Information Retrieval

چکیده
We study the role of coded side information in single-server Private Information Retrieval (PIR). An instance PIR problem includes a server that stores database K independently and uniformly distributed messages, user who wants to retrieve one these messages from server. consider settings which initially has access linear combination subset M database. assume identities form support set as well coding coefficients are unknown two different models, depending on whether requested message or not. also following privacy requirements: (i) both demand need be protected, (ii) only identity needs protected. For each model for requirements, we designing protocol generating user's query server's answer enables decode they while satisfying requirement. characterize (scalar-linear) capacity setting, defined ratio number bits minimum downloaded over all protocols satisfy condition. Our converse proofs rely new information-theoretic arguments-tailored setting commonly-used techniques multi-server settings. present novel capacity-achieving scalar-linear being considered.

The Capacity of Private Information Retrieval with Private Side Information
The problem of private information retrieval with private side information (PIR-PSI) is recently introduced by Kadhe et al. In this problem, N replicated databases each store K messages, of which M are known to the user as side-information. The identity of these M messages is unknown to the databases. The user wishes to retrieve, as efficiently as possible, a new desired message without reveali...

We study the problem of Private Information Retrieval (PIR) in the presence of prior side information. The problem setup includes a database of K independent messages possibly replicated on several servers, and a user that needs to retrieve one of these messages. In addition, the user has some prior side information in the form of a subset of M messages, not containing the desired message and u...

We consider the problem of private information retrieval (PIR) of a single message out of K messages from N replicated and non-colluding databases where a cache-enabled user of cache-size M messages possesses side information in the form of full messages that are partially known to the databases. In this model, the user and the databases engage in a two-phase scheme, namely, the prefetching pha...

متن کاملPrivate Information Retrieval from Coded Databases with Colluding Servers
We present a general framework for Private Information Retrieval (PIR) from arbitrary coded databases, that allows one to adjust the rate of the scheme to the suspected number of colluding servers. If the storage code is a generalized Reed-Solomon code of length n and dimension k, we design PIR schemes that achieve a PIR rate of n−(k+t−1) n while protecting against any t colluding servers, for ...
